Nancy O'Dell's broadcast career began as a journalist and anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She later became a morning news anchor as well as crime reporter for WCBD TV. O'Dell's stories in Charleston about the police's leniency regarding DUI cases prompted a State Law Enforcement Division to investigate. It led to state authorities issuing more strict guidelines in these cases. Ms. O'Dell won the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press.
